Canton Residents Seeking Assistance from C.A.R.E.
The When, How and Why
As Canton grows, its residents will continue to grapple with the ramifications
of that growth. Occasionally, residents turn to Canton Advocates for Responsible
Expansion for assistance in dealing with these issues.
How
do C.A.R.E.’s leaders determine which issues they will address?
We believe Canton should grow in a
way that will truly benefit the people who live and work here. As
individuals, at times perhaps also unanimously, board members may sympathize
with, want to, or choose to become actively involved with various issues. There
are numerous potential and laudable means of protecting the quality of life
in Canton, as exemplified by the varied organizations within town working toward
protecting open space, preserving historic treasures, and more. But as representatives
of C.A.R.E., board members decide whether C.A.R.E. will address a particular
issue by determining if it relates to our stated mission.
If you have a concern you would like to share with C.A.R.E., we want to hear
from you.
Keep in mind that C.A.R.E.'s board will
consider how your concern relates to our mission statement.
- Please send your inquiry to C.A.R.E.’s
president, including your replies to the following:
What are the details of the issue facing you?
What are your concerns?
How many people are supporting your effort?
What actions have you taken, or plan to take on your own?
If the issue is a land use application, have you seen the application?
Have you spoken with town land use office staff about the issue?
In what ways would you like C.A.R.E. to help?
Any other information you believe is helpful.
We will get back to you within three
weeks, after board members consider your request. Should C.A.R.E. choose to
offer advice or assistance, we would appreciate a donation in order to help
us continue our work. Although we are an all-volunteer organization and members
donate their time and expertise, unavoidable costs (such as postage, mailing
and printing) add up. Thank
you for caring about Canton and for approaching C.A.R.E.
